How Holiday Food Affects Your Skin – Part 2

by | Jul 10, 2018 | 0 comments

Last month I talked about how eating appetisers and sweet things can adversely affect your skin.  This month I look at the effects of alcohol and processed foods plus dairy products.

Fact 3:

• The indulgence – alcohol and processed foods.

• The effect – overindulgence can lead to dehydration which can result in a pasty appearance, puffy skin and visible lines.

• The better choice – as with so many indulgences, moderation is the key.  Always drink plenty of water and eat raw vegetables, the more colourful the better!  This will ensure you are adequately hydrated and provide your body with essential minerals and vitamins.

• The skin care fix – give Dermalogica’s Skin Hydrating Booster a try.  It is ideal for relieving dryness and lifting your moisture levels.

Fact 4:

• The indulgence – dairy products.

• The effect – too much dairy can increase androgen in your blood levels.  This hormone drives excess oil production and increases the potential for skin breakouts.

• The better choice – once again moderation is the answer.  You might also try alternatives such as almond milk or fruit sorbets.

• The skin care fix – using Dermalogica’s Dermal Clay Cleanser helps remove excess oils. Dermalogica’s Clearing Skin Wash can also help as it contains salicylic acid and tea tree oil which help purify the skin preventing breakouts.

So enjoy your holidays while eating and drinking well to keep your skin in tip top condition.
