I was amazed to read on the Glamour Magazine website that the wellness industry is currently worth some £500bn worldwide and is expected to reach £632bn by 2021!

Whilst we here in the UK are just about coping with yoga, meditation and vegetarianism/veganism, here are some of the new trends likely to be coming our way from the trendsetters in LA.

• Bünda classes. Let’s start at the bottom as bünda is the Portuguese word for bum. As well as the traditional Stairmaster, a special station fitted with bands and bungee cords is essential for your workouts.
• Thermage and Ultherapy. Non-invasive skin tightening treatments are all the rage apparently. Thermage, championed by Gwyneth Paltrow no less, targets loose skin with focussed radio frequencies. Ultherapy, whose supporters include Jennifer Aniston, uses high intensity ultrasound instead.
• Clean sleeping. I expect you’ve heard of clean eating (no, nor me). Well clean sleeping is the trend for 2019. It involves a revolutionary new sleep programme utilising smart, temperature regulating beds, blue filter glasses to block light disruption and advanced diagnostic tools.
• Eating insects. You may find the idea of crunching and chewing creepie crawlies abhorrent but there is plenty of scientific support for insects as an excellent source of protein. They could be coming to a supermarket near you, too, as Sainsbury’s has announced it will soon be stocking edible crickets in 250 stores nationwide.

It all sounds a bit much for Gloucester. However, if you would like to try the soothing effects of our massage, feet and hands or skin care therapies then give me a call on 01452 539751 or 07788 425634.
